Have you ever met one of those guys where you're like, "Whoa, he seems like he's out of it most of the time, but damn is he good at skateboarding. I wonder what he's going to do after he's done with all this skateboarding nonsense." Legitimacy is everything in skateboarding. Contests, therefore, have always been at odds with skateboarding's core values. If skating, street skating in particular, is about bucking rules and convention, then the organization and structure required to run a contest strikes at the heart of the legit-factor so vital to skateboarding.
