When contest time rolls around, you're more likely to find me at the bottom with a beer in my hand but for the first festival in years I was shooting photos all week long. The Grenade Games seem to bring out the best (worst?) in so many and the amount of pure love I saw for our fair sport of snowboarding in the past week was truly amazing. For better

Gonna keep it short on words here, I still adjusting to life at home, but I wanted to share these images from our final night at Tailgate and our drive home. It hurt too much to say goodbye, so after the perfect day and a hilarious BBQ/rap battle/dance party, we silently snuck away into the darkness and made a break for the Canadian border. Final BBQ

When you get as lucky as we did up here, it's a little hard to remember all the worries and tales of bad weather we'd heard so much about. For years, I've heard of crew after crew coming up to Alaska for weeks only to get skunked by bad weather. In fact, just before we left on this trip a good photographer friend of mine told me about coming

After a few challenging days we woke up to cracking blue skies and endless possibilities. After a quick breakfast in bed (easy to accomplish when every available space in the RV is essentially a bed), we geared up and rode back up to the King of the Hill contest zone to film a few lines Vera and Short had their eyes on. It was a bit of a scene up there

It might just be me but it really seems like it's just straight up harder to do anything up in AK. I don't know if it's something in the air or the weight of the legends who've come before us pressing down on our shoulders but, yeah, can I just get a break here?! I don't want to come off as a debbie-downer here, the list of high's

Last night was the awards ceremony for the King of the Hill 2010. Vera Janssen and Travis Rice took it to no one's surprise, with the awards going down at the Totem Inn in Valdez and an incredible group of shreds in attendance. Not held in a decade, the King of the Hill contest was the greatest contest to ever run, and I think it's safe to say

Lots of exciting stuff going on up here, weve been shredding lines and getting to know the zones and yesterday the King of the Hill contest ran and it was all time. Dave Short showed up two nights ago and then we rode some awesome lines as Dave got to know the area. While Vera stayed in camp to work on a sore leg and sled, Dave, Josh and I all headed

For every snowboarder out there, at least the ones I care to know, Alaska is the end of the road. From photos and articles in every magazine ever printed, to video parts that make you want to cry, we as snowboarders are bombarded by images from the great state of Alaska, and with good reason. Tailgate Alaska, organized by legendary snowboarders Nick
