Boardsports Against Breast Cancer: March 24

Push.ca is supporting Boardsports Against Breast Cancer, a charity event taking place next Wednesday, March 24th, at the Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto. The night will include a silent auction (you can preview some of the items here), along with prize giveaways, free food, brewery tours and more, all for a good cause. Tickets are $25, available at Boardsports on Yonge St., and online here. It's gonna be a good time for a good cause...that's reason enough to be there.

On March 24th, Boardsports Against Breast Cancer kicks off at Steam Whistle Brewery; a wicked night of awesome prizes and swag all in support of a worthy cause.
The event will feature an incredible silent auction from 9pm to 11pm (current prize details are available at www.babc.emilymorton.com) as well as complimentary brewery tours and free food provided by Grindhouse.

Canada Wins Berrics Younited Nations

First it was hockey - Canada double Gold - and now Ontario's Minor Media has prevailed over an International field of skate crews to win The Berrics Younited Nations.

Minor Media was put together by Erick Valentic out of Ontario and featured riders like Will Marshall, Brandon Del Bianco, Bobby Dekeyzer, and many others getting down. The crew will be heading down to The Berrics soon, so look to be updated with more info asap.

My Ride: Spencer Hamilton

Spencer Hamilton has been blessed with a My Ride feature on TWS that leads into his Roll Call interview in the latest issue. Both are banging, but you can watch the My Ride by clicking the link HERE and join in the internet discussing his set-up.

Mark Appleyard: Battle Commander

Mark Appleyard is a BAWSS! He is also The Berrics newest Battle Commander. His clip already has people claiming Appleyard as all-time best Commander. That is saying alot considering previous contenders are: CHRIS COLE, BILLY MARKS, PJ LADD, MIKE VALLELY, BRANDON BIEBEL, KERRY GETZ, LIZARD KING, GARRETT HILL, KELLEN JAMES, ERIK ELLINGTON, GUY MARIANO, ERIC KOSTON.

Appleyard may have been quiet for a while. But with this up-to-date footage he is officially back and hasn't lost a step.

Tampa Pro: Final Results and Video

The 16th annual Tampa Pro 2010 is a wrap. Keegan Sauder landed in 3rd place besting some huge names. Second went to Nyjah Huston and Paul Rodriguez took the big money and his first Tampa Pro Victory.

A Best Trick jam was also thrown were Matt Miller took the win with a waist-high backside noseblunt slide. Being the Tampa, all sorts of sponsor changes and gossip also went down including Torey Pudwell riding his new Plan B deck to 6th place in the Finals.

The Tampa Pro often marks the beginning of Spring. Every nice day, the skate parks are getting more crowded, so go cop a new deck and join the early adapters out in the (cold) sun.

A big News week: Cory Kennedy's 1st official video part from 'Beware of Sasquatch' was posted, there was a San Fran Spot Guide featuring Russ Milligan, Throwaways from Jesse Landen, Nike SB put on a skate jam and other events for Omar Salazar's shoe release, FTC put on an instore For The Cash contest that Ramondetta won, Jamie Tancowny's SBC Skate Interview was posted, Jordan Hoffart attempted revenge on the Carlsbad Gap for pubescent humiliation, and Rob Dyrdek took the first steps in creating his Pro Skate Leage.

The Columns featured a Jeff Comber: Sharp Haircut, Sharper Eye profile including a photo gallery and interview. The second was a Guest Column called Tripp South that follows Ian Twa, Sasha Daley, Riley Boland, and many others as they make their way down to San Diego. A coinciding video shows them skating places like Portland on the way South.

In the Blogs: Scotty MacDonald loves snowboarding - sort of, view Frank's Arizona Mash-Up of ditches and dive bars, Bill Weiss takes a victory for Canada at the Tampa Pro in Sayer's blog and the Legend of Wilfredo Gomez the greatest (fictional) skater of all time, Skate4Cancer checked out Sydney, ClubMumble memory sticks Dan Wolfe, and Vaughn Whynot look's at skate art.

Cory Kennedy: 1st Video Part

The skater the internet built - Cory Kennedy - has had his first real video part release in the NW video Beware of Sasquatch. It can be bought in shops and online so please support it, but watch the 9:39 of the future of skateboarding below. At just 16 years old it is crazy to think of what this kid will have accomplished in skateboarding before his 21st birthday. Style, trick selection, progression...it's all there. Enjoy. San Fran Spot Guide feat. Russ Milligan

Slap Magazine has put together an SF picture spot guide featuring Vancouver-to-SF'er Russ Milligan. San Francisco has a history steeped in skateboarding - EMB, Thrasher, the pier, DLX, etc.

Although its core measures in at just 7-by-7 miles, it is sectioned into unique territories each with its own personality and spots. Roll over each icon to see a skater ripping the spot and a brief introduction to what else you will find there.

Jesse Landen - Throwaways

King Shit has started a new feature called Throwaways that showcases photos nobody else wanted to print. That doesn't mean the photos aren't worthy though as this series of Jesse Landen pics proves. Photographer Jeff Comber spent time capturing Jesse's soul in Toronto, Barcelona, and China (actually that was Gils).

Tampa Pro 2010

Tampa Pro 2010 is kicking off today although the actual skating doesn't start until Friday. The Live HD Webcast airing on Sunday March 14th @ 12pm EST on Fuel.tv.

Today is the unofficial kick-off with many fishing boats full of pro-skaters hitting the waters of Florida and of course the "after parties" are already starting up tonight.

Friday is street practice, Am Vert, and the Bro Bowl Session. Toronto big timers, Fucked Up, are headlining the party tonight.

Saturday the street qualifiers take place.

Sunday everything wraps up. Semi's, Finals, and Best Trick.

Omar Salazar Nike Skate Jam

Nike SB released an Omar Salazar pro shoe and they pulled out all the stops in doing so. Over the course of two days there were parties in San Fran and a skate jam in Sacramento, Omar's home town. Skaters in the video include: Chris Nichols, Taylor Bingaman, Glenn Medrano, Rob Mason, Ishod Wair, Justin Brock, Paul Rodriguez, Mikey Burton, Daryl Angel, and Omar Salazar.

To commerate the launch Nike also created a full Omar outerspace microsite, which is actually pretty cool.

D.I.Y America: Selling out

Skateboarding for money vs. selling out - it's a delicate balance that will be debated until the end of time. Make money and you're selling out, don't make money and...well you're not making any money but at least you're keeping it real if that counts for anything.

The D.I.Y America series 'Skate and Create' continues with Part 6 about Selling Out in Skateboarding. Read Below:

"Craig Stecyk, Damon Way, Harmony Korine, Tony Hawk, Fausto Vitello, Ray Barbee, Tommy Guerrero and Chris Pastras give their opinions about selling out in the skateboarding community and how skateboarding has gone from an underground scene to a mainstream affair."
