It's not every
Saturday in Oakville, Ontario, that the downtown streets are closed to traffic,
a killer contest called The Beaver Has Landed goes down, and none other than Chris
Haslam and Ryan Decenzo make a guest appearance. No sir, it certainly is not every Saturday, but was in fact this
past Saturday, June 27th.
If you blew it and missed it, don't stress too hard: we've got all the coverage
you need right here on Push. (Although trust me: it was worth the trip just to
see Haslam do a few mini-ramp runs in person.)

Under a blazing
sun, cash and prizes - courtesy of Hustler, DaKine, Globe, Nixon and Push.ca -
were doled out to a lucky few skaters who stayed hydrated and ran a tight game.
EventSing's hide-and-go-skate mini-ramp was in effect, as was a fun street
course that included a launch ramp to ledge combo. Prizes were handed out for
the best runs of the day, and then a bill-fold of cash was opened up to reward
the best tricks. Haslam and Decenzo threw down an impressive two-man demo, and
stuck around to sign autographs and pose for photos. I challenge you to meet
two friendlier skaters; even after working up a serious sweat, they didn't lay
down their Sharpies until every last kid went home with a new souvenir.

EventSing's
Andrew Singleton and his crew put the whole damn thing together, and had this
to say when it was all over: "It's always fun supporting the Oakville skate
scene and Hustler board shop; only good things come out of that place! Brian
White, Thom Webb and Cassie Whitlan were committed from day one and not only gave
out Nixon headphones, Globe shoes, and DaKine backpacks, but wrangled Canada's
best and brought in Chris Haslam and Ryan Decenzo for mini-ramp trickery,
street course annihilation and even a handshake to the winners! This year was
the best of the past five years for many reasons: co-operative sunny weather,
thousands in attendance, great local talent and of course, having Chris and
Ryan influence and support the Oakville skate scene. See you next year!"
