Groundhog Day: More Winter!
Posted On Feb 02 2010, 08:15 PM by asayer

Ontario may have been hit by winter a few weeks late this year, but if you are a borderline obessive, devout follower of Bill Murray (like I am) then you believe there is another 6 weeks to go. Wiarton Willie, Ontario's makeshift version of Punxsutawney Phil, saw his shadow on Tuesday marking another 6 weeks of winter.

If no shadow appears then spring would be right around the corner, which would have been a shame since it feels the season just kicked off in Ontario. How does this make any sense?

Wiarton Willie, their famous groundhog, accurately predicts the correct weather 90% of the time according to officials. This uncanny ability is due to the fact that Wiarton Willie is born directly on the 45 parallel, halfway between the equador and the North Pole, or maybe because he is possesed by the spirit of Bill Murray? It seems a little ridiculous that 20 000 people gather every year to view this witchcraft, but a few more weeks of snowboarding never hurt anybody.

This makes about as much sense as Leprechauns in the ghetto, but listening to the people below that doesn't seem so far-fetched either.
