Ron Deily
flat out has "it". You know that intangible "something" that makes certain
skateboarders so enjoyable to watch? Being able to shred like Ron, in such a
nonchalant manner, is definitely something you can't be taught. Watch him
effortlessly flow around a spot with his patented, laid-back style and you just
know it's something he was born with.
Ron seems
to apply that laid back attitude to his everyday life. Taking things in stride,
he doesn't sweat the trivial shit and, instead, enjoys the people and things
going on around him.
With
magazine interviews and video parts on the way, 2011 promises to be a huge year
for Ron. Continue reading to find out about his Jersey roots, being on Zoo York
and what his only skate video is.

What was it like growing up in NJ?
Growing up
in Jersey was rad. We had all aspects of life for the most part, with the
ocean, mountains and the city all being so close together. Being well rounded
and having an understanding of what was going on outside our area made me
appreciate the area.
When did you start skating and how did
you get into it?
My dad got
me a skateboard on my 7th birthday; it had a very mysterious cow graphic. Never
stopped.
Anyone who's seen you skate knows that
you're able to flow around on tranny really well. It's rad to see such a raw
street skater that is so smooth on tranny. Did you grow up skating a lot of parks
or minis?
Growing up
in Jersey has made skating indoors inevitable. We've had some pretty viscous
winters. I've always loved skating new parks and minis; it's fun to mix things
up.

How did you get on Zoo?
It was a
process that a lot of people helped me out with. Chris Nieratko, Jeff Pang,
Andre Page, and Don La all helped me out a bunch with getting in on the program.
Was your part in State Of Mind your first full-length part?
Yeah, I'd
say it was my first full video part. I've done some weird little stuff, but
nothing like that.
What was it like to film that video
and travel with the Zoo guys?
We always
have a good ol' time when we're on the road together. We went all over the
place, lots of different countries in Europe and all around the U.S. Atlanta
was one of my favorite spots.
You also ride for NJ Skate Shop. Tell me
about the shop.
NJ Skateshop
is a great place. The people behind it care about who they're supporting in the
industry and look out for their local kids. To no surprise, they already have four
different shops now.
What have you been skating recently?
I've been skating in the city a bunch
and cutty little Jersey spots. Just trying to shoot photos and film as much as
I can.

What are a few of your favorite tricks
right now?
Kickflips are
always high on the list. Been skating a lot of ledges lately. Lipslide bigspins
and fakie flip nosegrinds.
Whose video parts are you hyped on right
now? Which videos have you been watching?
The only
skate video I have possession of is Maple's Black
Cat. Louie and Jerry.
I know before you used to take some
vitamins, stretch and exercise a bit to try and stay healthy. Are you keeping
up with that?
Yeah, I'm
still taking my vitamins and doing random exercises and stretching. I like
riding my bike everywhere when it's nice enough. Push-ups and sit-ups help too.
What do you get up to when you're not
skating?
I like to play pool and kick it at the house. I take it
easy when I'm home. Get ready to hit the streets.
What are your plans for the rest of
2011? What are you working on now?
Working on
some different interviews, just trying to keep skating, traveling, and logging
up footy.
Thank you's and last words?
Thanks to
all my sponsors, friends, and family for being there!
