Affiliate Skateboards
AM and DC Canada rider, Ian Twa never seems to stand still for long. Whether
it's spending winters in Barcelona and California or traveling to Chicago and
New York City in the summer, the kid is always on the go.
This past summer, I
got a chance to watch Ian throw down some serious moves on a few of NYC's most
known and unknown spots. Now that he's situated back in his home, Vancouver,
BC, I threw a few topics at him to see what he's been up to, Lately.
From food and music
to skating and upcoming video projects, continue reading to find out what a day
in Ian's life looks like.

Skating:
Lately, I have been skating the new Kensington
park in Vancouver. It's super close to my house and one of the roomies is
always down to roll. Also, we got a grinder and a little manny for the front
street. Living at the house is Joey
Williams, Caine Cripps, Wade
Desarmo, Bryan Wherry and Spencer
Hamilton. Also right down the street we got Travis Stenger and Chris
Richardson. So basically that's the crew and we all skate together a lot right
now.
Tricks:
I've been working on all of them recently, hahaha. No, I always struggle with
frontside bigspins, so I've been putting in some work there for sure.
Filming/Photos:
I'm working on an interview right now with Dave Christian at SBC. Should be
coming out their first issue in 2011. The house has a camera so we're always
going out filming. There hasn't been any official decisions on names yet, but
the house is gonna make it's own vid and it's gonna be real fucking proper.

Videos:
Obviously Stay
Gold just dropped, so Brandon Westgate's part is on a pretty serious
repeat. Stoked for the new Habitat vid and the new Kayo vids, Expedition and
DGK.
Killing It:
Man, so many rippers these days. McGraw, Matt
Berger, Spence, Brandon
Del Bianco, TREP.
I dunno, the list could seriously go on and on, but those are a couple that
stick out for me right now.
Product:
I try to keep my set-up pretty basic. The D.C. Shoes I have been really
feeling lately are the Match mid's. Super good shoe that breaks in real quick.
Been rocking these Matix pants called "Miners", like, everyday for a
year. Diamond Hardware, Indy Trucks wides, Momentum wheels. My boards are
usually 8" and my favorite Affiliate graphic for sure right now is the white
board with the pencil sketch lion head. Damn shit is hot.

Travel:
I did do some traveling recently. I made it out to Chicago for almost ten days
and I made it over to New York for two weeks. I have been to New York before,
but never Chicago. I was expecting Chicago to be this huge city with really old
architecture, and it was just that. But it is also a lake front city with
beaches and rivers running through it. The city is dope and I can't wait to get
back there.
Music:
The music at our house is pretty mixed. We got Spenny downloading everything
dope from 1940 to the present day. We got variety like no other: from Smokey
Robinson and the Miracles to the new Ludacris. Some people get really caught up
on a certain genre of music. For me, if it sounds good and has some melody to
it, I'm jamming.
Food:
Trying to always keep a mix of fruit and veggies in my diet. I'm from Alberta,
so a vegetarian I am not. But I still appreciate that most of our energy comes
from the sun.

Gadgets:
I got an iPhone. The screen is all cracked and broken, but the shit still
works. I try to keep off it. Phones and texting are ruining personal
communication.
Politics:
Politics are fucked. All I know is that the general public, myself included,
has little to no say on worldly issues. As Canadians, we stand behind the
United States even when it goes directly against our personal morals.
Wise Words:
I read a pretty ill quote somewhere, I forget where I read it and who I'm
quoting but; "Those who forget the past are condemned to think they are
being original."
