So last night I happened to see some things; part music, part hipster showdown. The music part was Magic Jordan. Young ‘uns from Kingston (Ontario) with a sound that’ll fly. They’ve got the whole electro-punk-pop thing going on, but if a good way. Eclectic band members too. They’re good...check their myspace page. But enough of them; the show was in the crowd. Maybe it’s my choice of counter-culture (a culture unto itself), but last night was eye opening. The crowd was packed with kids wearing full retro gear, throwing themselves at each other with not-so-reckless abandon (that would ruin their carefully chosen goodwill threads). I saw an outfit that would make my mom proud that she was way ahead of her time: being uncool back in the 70s.
When The Craft Economy hit the stage (did I mention I was there to see them?) the public school calisthenics kicked. Actually, wait...those were after the Macarena [why was that is spell check? gross]. A gentleman and his lady caller were performing this most sacred wedding ritual in time with the music, keeping pace with the increasing tempo of the song. He even didn’t even blink or lose a step when a buddy of his came over and had a conversation with him, regarding who knows what, but I’ll assume he was just giving him mad props for his skillz. Next up the work out kicked into high gear. Do you remember those shoulder exercises, small circle, big circle, small circle? Those were thrown down, again, to the music.
The final piece of this elaborate pastiche was the head-banded, porn-mustachioed fellow who walked out carrying a pair of OG rollerskates over his shoulder. I was so curious if he actually used them, or just carried them around as an accessory; not sure which answer I wanted to hear more. My mind was blown...thank you, good night.

KC Accidental
Before Broken Social Scene there was Kevin Drew and Charles Spears as KC Accidental. They released two albums, both nearly impossible to find. But like all good that comes from the internet, someone has dug them up and decided to share them. If you’ve ever heard the first official Broken Social Scene album, Feel Good Lost, you’ll know what you’re in for. Grab them before the cease-and-desist.

Rage Against The Machine – A Capella at the Republican National Convention
As the story goes, there was a sound curfew of 7pm, and security kept RATM from getting to the stage until after 7pm, leaving them unable to perform. Give the boys a megaphone and anything can happen. I promptly dug out my RATM albums and added them into my music library.
Metallica – The Day That Never Comes (“Producer Rick Rubin apparently told them that 1986's Master of Puppets was their best album and, as an exercise, to try and imagine that they were contractually obligated to write a follow-up in that same year.” Somehow I feel like they still missed the mark...where’s the Damage, Inc.? Battery? See for yourself.)
Not Music:
Yeah, I like Kevin Smith. So what. Shut up.
Zach & Miri Make A Porno (trailer)
This...(what’re they up to?)
Reminded me of this, which you probably missed:
Bill Gates’ last day at Microsoft.
