Growing up in Markham, Ontario, Mikey made the big move out west to "live the dream" via his semi-professional snowboard career. Eventually the mind outlasted the body and his focus shifted to getting an education and a "real job" in the action sport industry. I have to confess that I didn't know much about Stacey Gabriel prior to interviewing him, and for me that's a rare thing. Look deep inside the skate scene and you'll find certain individuals that know every trick that's gone down, on every single skate-able spot, in most Canadian cities. This column highlights those individuals-they can tell you what went down in the videos and the magazines because they were there doing it or watching... (more)

Writing these columns is usually a simple task. I mean, it's as simple as finding an interesting individual and digging into why they do exactly what they do. It's always interesting to find out what someone loves most about skating, whether they're a rookie or a seasoned vet.
