HCSC Session 6 was nuts! It was the last session of the summer so they brought in the heavies. I tagged along with the Tripod plus Andre from Nomis and Jeremy Jones all week as they destroyed the place. Around this time every year we find ourselves on a patch of melting snow at a high elevation somewhere in the pacific northwest. For this occasion it was for StepChild/People week at Camp of Champions. Yes this is the opening line to a Stars song but I think this quote is reminiscent of the self-immolating suicide of Jan Palach, a 20-year-old university student from the former Czechoslovakia. Fort McMurray is known in Canada as a major hub of oil production no the hub of snowboarding. With it’s frigid winter temperatures ranging in the -30 to -40 degrees Celsius and zero mountains in site it’s hard to imagine snowboard talent being produced from these parts but that’s exactly where young Brooke... Everyone knows it’s been a weird winter with weather and snow conditions on Vancouver’s local resorts. Starting in November with record breaking snow falls then in December turning into rain and not just a little rain but weeks and weeks of rain, cloud, and the occasional “snain”.
