Winter is here and skateboarding
twelve months a year in Canada is strictly for the hardcore. Where are you
gonna run and hide? Going underground is always an option, but it can get
pretty cold there. It's time to get on a plane, or a very long car ride, and
check out some new skate scenes. Some WARM new skate scenes.
Luckily, as Canadians,
there are many opportunities to get out of Dodge over the cold and rainy
months. A strong dollar and great international relations are just two of the
factors we have going for us. Just don't let anyone mistake you for an
American.
Here we visit five of
the top travel destinations for Canadian skaters: Barcelona, China, California,
Australia, and Miami. All of these places are completely different but hold one
very important factor in common: warm weather. Or more importantly - warm
weather while Canada is under the deep freeze.
Start stocking that
piggy bank because if there is one thing every skateboarder must do it's visit
these locations at some point in life. Preferably right now.

Brandon del Bianco - Barcelona
Barcelona is the mecca
of skateboarding. For good reason too: spots galore, great food, Spanish women,
friendly scene, and mild weather all make Barcy the go-to spot overseas. Take
your pick of famous landmarks or any number of new skate obstacles that keep
getting uncovered every year.
The average annual
temperature of 20 degrees is positively balmy compared to Canada and medieval
architecture makes for epic photo backdrops. Brandon del Bianco is a regular
and keeps logging more footy every time he returns to Barcelona.
