With these strange days of competing sponsorship agreements, limited advertising dollars, print mags, web mags, websites, etc., all clashing together, some media outlets view others as competitors as opposed to trying to spread the gospel of skateboarding and the lifestyle that surrounds it. Not that Converse ever really went away - hell, it invented the vulcanized sole about 2,000 years ago -- but the recently-launched Converse skate program is gaining serious momentum. Veteran Toronto skater Wes Loates has been hired to help get Cons Skate running properly in the east, and judging by the turn-out of local skaters... (more)

Skateboarding is about more than a deck, two trucks and four wheels: there's also a wealth of creativity found within the skate community, not to mention a do-it-yourself sensibility.
